About Punjabi Pakistani People
Punjabi Pakistanis comprise approximately 45% of the Pakistani population per the 2017 Census — approximately 110+ million Punjabi Mother Tongue speakers in Pakistan, the largest single national Punjabi-speaking population in the world (vs ~33M Indian Punjabis). Concentrated in Punjab Province plus Azad Kashmir and Islamabad. The Punjabi language is part of the Northwestern Indo-Aryan branch and is written in Pakistan in the Shahmukhi script (a Perso-Arabic adaptation, distinct from the Gurmukhi script used by Indian Punjabis). Pakistani Punjabis are predominantly Sunni Muslim with smaller Shia, Ahmadiyya, Christian, and other religious communities. Cultural traditions include Punjabi Sufi-poetry heritage (Bulleh Shah, Waris Shah, etc.), Bhangra music (shared with Indian Punjabis), and the historically and politically dominant role of Punjabi populations in Pakistani military and civilian institutions.

Facial features track Northwestern South Asian source populations: taller-and-narrower nasal bridges, fuller lips, oval-to-rectangular face shapes with prominent dark eyebrows. Eye color is predominantly brown but with elevated frequencies of hazel and rarely green/blue variants compared to other South Asian populations. Build is intermediate to taller; adult Punjabi Pakistani male mean stature is approximately 173-176 cm in 2010s-2020s urban cohorts — among the taller national male mean stature in South Asia.
